my background

My name is Astrid, i’m 20 and from Yorkshire. I have been working with clay for around 4 years, during that time I have explored sculpture, printmaking, performance, and various forms of craft beside my ceramic practice. Currently, I see my ceramic work as the intersection between my love of craft and my fine art practice. Gradually my work has become more and more involved with history, anthropology, archaeology, geography and geology, folklore, traditional craft, and artisanal skill sets. Last year I studied Archaeology at UCL, but decided to transfer to ceramics in my second term. I feel that the things I learnt during this time have only aided my research and practice. While studying Archaeology I found it difficult to maintain any practice at all (whether it be artistic or musical), I am now however, keenly aware of the room and enthusiasm for my other interests, from myself, my peers and my tutors.
